Summary:

I – For the purposes of the recognition and confirmation of a foreign arbitral award, and pursuant to Article 978(1) of the Portuguese Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), it is necessary to comply with what is imperatively established by the 1958 New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.

II – Under the New York Convention, the grounds for refusal or non-recognition of a foreign arbitral award are set out in Article V, and these grounds are exhaustive, as provided in Article III of the Convention.
